Air Duct Cleaning

Air Conditioning ducts can over a period of time become contaminated with dust, building debris, animal dander, hydrocarbons, cigarette smoke, cockroaches, dust mites, mould, bacteria and viruses etc.

These contaminants can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people and cause or aggravate persistent minor health problems in others, such as sinus problems, mysterious rashes, coughs and colds.

28% of all people suffer with allergies, as many as 1 in 6 of them do so as a direct result of a dirty A/C duct system.

80% of indoor air quality problems are due to inadequate ventilation, or contaminants within the building itself including the air duct system.

In most cases the air duct system has never been properly cleaned since it was initially installed. Cleaning the duct system has obvious health benefits to those in the occupied space but also can contribute to increased employee productivity as less time is taken off on sick leave, reduced housekeeping as dust and debris from the ducts is no longer being pumped into the occupied space and increased efficiency of the air duct system as built up debris has been removed.

Cleaning the air ducts without contaminating the indoor air is achieved by using a specially designed HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air, 99.97% @ 0.3 micron) filtered vacuum unit, or alternatively a vacuum unit located outdoors, to create negative air pressure within the ducts.  By using special rotating brush systems, air whips and jet nozzles, the dust and debris is agitated and becomes air-born, and is then pulled into the vacuum collection unit and contained within. We clean the entire A/C supply and return ducts and components of the air-handling unit where the treated air passes through, these include the coil, drip tray, fan and filters.

Most air conditioning duct systems have very limited access openings. Our procedure includes making new openings and installing access panels, to ensure complete and thorough cleaning of the entire system.

After completing each section we sanitize the ducts with an application of an anti-microbial product, designed specifically for air ducts, to control mould and bacteria.

On completion of the project we provide a certificate of cleaning and a photographic project report detailing the cleaning operation.
